Amphora The Busted Gentleman

‘Amphora’ is a wax homage to this humble ancient storage unit that underpinned the beginnings of vast trading networks, networks that fuelled and funded spectacular civilisations. Ranging from the mundane, functional vessels to the intricately decorated and embellished receptacles, these often ceramic amphorae were appreciated in their own day for the harmonious proportions of their quintessential form as well as their function. Amphorae also represented some of the earliest manifestation of branding, with each polis establishing a slight variation of shape and unique decorative style signalling the provenance of the good they carried.
